A note from our Vice President and Board Secretary, Alex Holland, MAc., and founder of Han University, which in 2017 became a part of ASAOM.

Dear Student,

To undertake the journey of studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is to embark on a journey of transformation. This transformation is not only of self, as you learn a complex new paradigm that will change your worldview, but also one of helping to transform our western medical healthcare system. Chinese medicine may be ancient, but it is also timely ... and the time is upon us.

TCM provides an ancient knowledge that reaches deep into the core of what it means to be human, explores the quality of our relationships, and expounds upon the necessity of balance with our home planet. Chinese Medicine teaches that we are all part of the same microcosmic and macrocosmic systems, striving to maintain a balance that results in health of mind, body and spirit. This is one of the means through which the world can change….through the work of each one of us.

In my 30 years of practice, I have noticed that the best, most accomplished, and satisfied TCM practitioners are those who have embraced the understanding of service to others. They are empathic. They engender an awareness of the true nature of healing that is necessary for all true healers. They integrate the best of eastern and western medicine, understanding that balanced energy is at the root of all healing. These are the types of individuals that the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ASAOM) strives to attract. These are the healers of the future.

As with the changing face of the American healthcare system, ASAOM is in a cycle of continuous of growth. Its transformation has enhanced the school’s curriculum, faculty, administration and connections with a number of healthcare networks and providers. Students have the opportunity to participate in off campus events as healthcare providers and after learning the essentials of the medicine, work side-by-side with fellow students in an integrative format in the school’s clinic. ASAOM is in the process of a transformative shift that will take it to the next level of evolution, offering a deeply integrated, dynamic and rich educational experience.

I invite you to contact ASAOM and see what we have to offer you as you explore your educational options in the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Thank you.
