Jade Star Acupuncture – Jennifer Parks, L.Ac., M.A.c.O.M.
Jennifer graduated from the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2011 with a master’s in Oriental Medicine. She completed the full program including Tui Na certification, herbal program and acupuncture studies.
After health issues with family members had resolved, Jennifer started back to college in 2007 to attain a Bachelor of Science degree, with the goal of beginning a pharmaceutical sales career. While in school, she began researching the pharmaceutical field and realized that this career choice was not something she could do in good conscience. At this point Jennifer asked God for help to show her what career she should follow. When she visited the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine she knew that she had found her answer. And so her journey has begun. Jennifer feels blessed and ever so thankful to have found Chinese medicine and to live her life healing others.
Jennifer is co-owner of Jade Star Acupuncture and specializes in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture. She was drawn to this specialty because it allows people to do a cosmetic procedure that is healing from the inside out. Not only do patients’ faces look younger, but they feel better too! Â
Tucson Acupuncture Clinic — Cheri Brown, L.Ac.
Once upon a time I was a long distance runner. I ran about ten miles a day. After years of doing this, I developed a lot of problems with my right foot. My foot experienced more surgeries than a person could count. Still I continued to run Sabino Canyon three times a week, coming home to ice my foot and take pain pills in order to sleep at night. One day I went to my doctor to get a refill for my pain meds and to get my cortisone shot. He said to me, “have you ever thought about trying acupuncture?” I said, “at this point I am willing to try anything”. The pain was making it difficult for me to sleep at night. He referred me to an acupuncturist(who was a nurse working for him at one time). I went for my first treatment… the results were amazing!! After three treatments I was pain free– no more pain meds were needed.
Then about ten years later I went to Montana in the winter time to help my mother. While I was there the excruciating pain reappeared. I thought, ‘what did I do last time the pain was this bad? Oh, I had Acupuncture.’ There just happened to be an Acupuncturist in Great Falls, Montana. I started seeing him once a week and the pain disappeared. Also, my whole life I had a lot of problems with asthma. I was taking about two medications a day and using an inhaler. I just hating taking all that stuff, it made me feel horrible, but it made it so I could breathe. I mentioned to the acupuncturist about my asthma and he said that he would be able to help with that also. He prescribed Chinese herbs and did Acupuncture. It was amazing!! No more medications– no more inhalers!! I have not used an inhaler since 2002. I was thinking….. this Acupuncture stuff is incredible!!!
At that point in time, I was recently divorced and wanted to do something different with my life. After much soul searching, I decided that I wanted to become an Acupuncturist so that I could help people the way that I had been helped.
In my practice, I like to help people, to make them feel better, to improve their quality of life. Helping to eliminate migraine headaches is one of my favorite aspects of my practice. I am passionate about integrating cranio-sacral therapy work with acupuncture. Stress relief is a big part of what I do, along with working with fibromyalgia patients to improve their quality of life.
Below you can get a sense of my training and credentials; I bring an advanced combination of therapies to my practice, including:
– Craniosacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute;
– Studied Lymph Drainage Therapy through the Upledger Institute;
